Students and teachers have suffered under the current Sask government.

A decade ago, Saskatchewan led the nation in per-student operating funding for school boards.1 But after years of funding cuts and freezes, this is no longer the case. Teachers estimate that it would take a 12% increase to return per-student funding to 2015 levels.

Funding for classroom supports has also declined, as a percentage of total funding.

The new government must prioritize high quality public education with funding that restores inflation-adjusted per-student funding to at least 2015 levels. The government must also address teachers’ concerns about compensation, class complexity, violence in the classroom and classroom supports.
